Ritual de lo Habitual
Back into the swing of my regular social life which meant Lamp. Kinda mellow in there. I think I was ready to get crazy tonight, but they were out of SoCo. ARGH! So I drank Stella instead but that didn’t really motivate me to do squat. Even singing felt half-assed. My trifecta was Siouxsie (Kiss Them For Me), Culture Club (Do You Really Want To Hurt Me) and Phantom Planet (California). Not bad songs for me, but nothing earth shattering either. Maybe it was the crowd. I had fun with Russ though. I made him sing Dynamite Hack’s version of “Boyz in the Hood”. That went over surprisingly well.
I think I am just tired. I had a long day at work and then I baked cookies for Trav’s bday while doing laundry, signing Christmas cards for work and burning Super Fantastic Mix cds. No wonder I am tired. Plus I have a million things going on this week. Cross your fingers I can make it through tomorrow without any meltdowns.
I’m finally in a Christmas mood though, so have a song in the listen section.

Boo. You are way behind.
Is it me or did the holidays really sneak up on you this year? I am the kind of person that usually has Christmas cards out the day after Thanksgiving and I missed that by a longshot. I did finally get my Christmas cards done tonight but only because I forced myself to stay home. (I guess feeling a bit under the weather was a catalyst as well.) I still have a ton to do - like burning a gazillion Super Fantastic Mix cds, making the covers for them and then mailing them off. Not to mention my Christmas shopping. I have bought a grand total of two gifts. Argh. I need to hit the outlets in a bad way. And then baking. I have to bake for Trav’s bday on Tuesday and then a marathon session next weekend for people who get cookies and what have you. Good thing I took time off this week. I’m tired just thinking about it. Sigh.
P.S. Have a Christmas song in the listen section.

The Short List
I have plenty to gave thanks for this year. In short form:
1. My family. They drive me crazy, but they are always there for me and I love them.
2. My friends. I am so lucky to have such good friends.
3. Stoli Vodka. To help with dealing with #1 and for good times with #2.
4. The people I have met through my blog and the local music scene. I don’t know how I lived without you guys.
5. Very public displays of affection on the radio by my favorite red headed DJ. (He played me Hole. OMG!)
Oh hell, I need to go. My family is wondering where I escaped to. Hope everyone is finding things to be thankful for and are spending the day surrounded by your loved ones.

Post TX Decompress
It’s good to be home. A bunch of blogworthy stuff happened while I was in TX but I just wasn’t feeling like writing while I was there. But now I feel like writing so here goes.
- Tuesday night I went to Carraba’s for dinner and sat at the bar. I got to watch some lady tell an older Greek guy from Italy that he looked like Big from SATC. This guy was like “What?” since he has no idea about American TV. Then she was completely an asshole American and bugged him about what he was doing here and all that. He was too gracious to tell her to bug off. Way amusing to watch the futility of the whole situation.
- Also at said bar on Tuesday night - “Dancing With The Stars” on tv. WTF? Then election coverage. I got into a convo with the bartender about what they vote for. I guess there were all sorts of “referendums” on liquor laws. Again, WTF? I always forget that other states have laws about where liquor can be sold and what have you. I guess you pretty much have to go to Dallas county to buy liquor. That’s crazy if you ask me.
- I ate breakfast at Chick-fil-A every day. I know, I know. Biscuits are so my weakness. (Lushy, shut up already!)
- I went to lunch at this place that made cheeseburger tacos. Get this, they cut a hamburger patty in half, stick each half in a tortilla and dress it up like a burger. I got a bacon blue cheese one. The concept is all right, but it didn’t rawk my world. Won’t be going there again. I should have just stuck with Dickey’s. They have fried okra!
- I drove a brand new Saturn Vue while I was there. It only had 180 miles on it. I’m thinking that this car will be my default car if I can get one every time I am there. It’s a great ride.
- On the way home, I sat behind one of those way self important people. She put her seat back and then proceeded to not lay back in it. And then she was running around talking to people she knew on the plane and telling anyone who would listen about her fabulous life. I wanted to tell her to shut up in a bad way, but I’m trying to not be part of the problem these days, so I shut it.
Eh, I’m annoyed just thinking about this chick again. Done. I’ll be running around all day and am crossing my fingers my plans for later don’t fall through. You’ll hear about that if it happens. Don’t wanna jinx it.

The Boys To The Rescue
I’m sick. And I need to get better quick because I am flying to Dallas on Monday. I really should be eating soup or something, but CoWorker Dude and some of the boys went to In-n-Out for lunch and they brought me back fries with extra salt. They rule.

Back Home For Now
Minnie and I had a tough time of it coming home. I had planned things to get maximum time between getting home and then getting ready for tonight’s Rise Against show at SOMA. Not quite how it shook out.
As we were getting ready to board the plane, I noticed there was something weird going on outside. The crew were looking at a leak of some sort. I thought it was water but it turned out to be fuel. So first our flight was delayed while they checked it out. Then they told us they were switching planes. Then they told us our flight was cancelled because they didn’t have a plane to swap.
But get this, early check in pays off. They had 30 seats on the next flight home and they were going to change tickets for the first 30 people who checked in. I was the 18th person to check in so I was all good. Except there was a delicate balance as far as who was picking me up from the airport and the flight change made everything go awry.
No matter. Once I finally got home, I dropped everything off and headed to Kira’s for pre-show White Stone and Pacifico. We got to catch up and that was cool. Plus, Minnie was stoked to hang out on Kira’s new couch.
Awesome. Separate post for the Rise Against show in a few, I need to scrounge up some water.
P.S. I guess I should explain Minnie. I’ve had her since March of last year. Mark and Bernard brought her back from Disneyland for me. She came with me when I had my gall bladder removed. Seriously, she was the last thing I remembered before the anesthetic kicked in and I was clutching onto her when I came too after surgery. If you’ve been in my car, you know that Minnie rides around with me. So I am just taking it a step further and taking her with me on trips as of Hawaii. A couple of people I know take photos with their mascots (long live Spooky and Domo) so now we can add Minnie to the mix. Also, I figured it would be a cool way to keep track of where I am since I am all over the place. In my about section, I’ll always have Minnie’s current location, so you’ll always know where we are.

Unsweetened I Said
When I went to Starbucks this morning, I asked for my coffee unsweetened. As soon as I swished it around a few times and had a sip, I could tell that my instructions were not followed. That little box for syrup should have been crossed out. But no, the ditzy person taking my order didn’t mark it off.
Much to the detriment of everyone that works with me. I am bouncing off the cubicle walls as I type....
