Get Me Some Spirit

 Rambling

I’ve been having a hard time getting into the spirit of the holidays this year. I could blame my car accident, but I don’t think that’s it. In a way, I think my accident has been helping me get some things done.

For example, for the longest time, I’ve wanted to write one of those holiday letters to put into my Christmas cards. And I actually did one this year. On Snowflake paper even! And then there is what I did last night. I am making a CD of songs that remind me of this year. And I have spent a bunch of time working on it, getting the songs together and writing liner notes. I was finally happy with the liner notes, so I made the cover for the CD’s. Not on the computer though. I went through some magazines and did a cover using print ads. It looks pretty sweet. So I went to Kinkos and spent about $20 making color copies. I know, it would have been cheaper to scan it and then print it out. But it was fun doing it the old school way.

Anyways, I think I’m finally getting there. But I have other things that I have to make it through before I can totally concentrate on Christmas. Travis’ birthday is on Sunday and I have a gazillion things to do to get ready for that. (I won’t go into it here in case he’s lurking around.) And tonight is my roommate’s birthday, so I am making dinner for us. Oh yeah, and my sister is trying to plan a wedding in the midst of all this. Excuse me while I primal scream. And then I’ll go put some Christmas music on and everything will be ducky.

Memo to the She-hawks

Wow...what a great way for the Seahawks to come back in the 4th quarter. After Shaun Alexander willed himself into the end zone and Jerry Rice made that amazing catch that led to another touchdown, you guys thought you had it in the bag, didn’t you?  Damn Dallas for actually playing football for another 3 minutes and Keyshawn and his Should It Really be A Touchdown catch.

Now I know why Travis calls them the She-hawks.

Call Me A Whore…again

On Saturday while I was at Fashion Valley, I ran into the Coach store to see if they had the Holiday Patchwork wristlet that I want. I had weighed myself before I left and I think I may hit my mini goal this week, so I wanted to check it out since I figured I would get it as my reward. They were out of them, but they told me that they could order it and ship it to me for free since they didn’t have them.

I was down for that. Even if I don’t make my mini goal this week, I’ll have it for when I do get there. I just won’t allow myself to use it until it’s official. So I go to the counter to pay for it and the person that was helping me freaked out when she saw my purse. I was using my Signature Demi Pouch that I picked up the day after Thanksgiving. She freaked out because they weren’t selling those until the next day. Cool. I got it before the general public because I got it on base.

Sunday Recap

I had an atypical Sunday. It was raining when I woke up, so I didn’t take a walk. Instead, I headed up to UTC to get a price adjustment on those boots I bought on Wednesday. They were on sale for $20 less than what I paid for them, so I went and got the difference applied to my account. Then I headed to Ulta to get my shampoo and conditioner and picked up a gift for my roommate, whose birthday is on Wednesday. A couple more errands and it was off to my sister’s to watch the Chargers game.

Now, I have never been a Chargers fan. I grew up a Niners fan and there’s no changing that. But Z and Steve have always been fans and as long as the Chargers aren’t playing a team I like, I tend to root for them. So yesterday was a big game. I wasn’t convinced they were all that until they beat KC in their house last week. So I was actually geeked up for yesterday’s game. And it was a great one to watch. Even though I was really worried they were going to blow it in the 4th quarter. But they didn’t. Hooray for them. But I won’t speculate as to how they are going to do for the rest of the season, lest I jinx them and Z kills me for it.

So last night, I had tix to the Pinback show at Canes. Travis did too so we planned on going together. I went over to his place and he was at his neighbors’ watching Elf. So we hung out there for a bit before we left. And when we got to Canes, the line to get in was horrendous. And we were stuck in line in front of a really vacuous chick. Travis and I were totally annoyed.

Under 5 and Counting

Nice. I just got back from my WW meeting. I knew that I had lost weight over the last two weeks, I just didn’t know how much. Drumroll, please....

I am down 2.6 lbs. for a total of 76.2 lbs. Rawk on. Pretty good considering I have been over my points for the last two weeks and I haven’t been to the gym in a week. And I asked my doctor about going to the gym and that’s a negative for at least a couple more weeks.  So I guess it will be those 3 mile walks that will have to tide me over for a bit.

I only have 3.8 lbs. to go to meet my mini goal by my birthday. So I need to stay focused on what I need to do to get there. And not let baking and parties and boys distract me. Well....I guess I can let the boys distract me for a moment, but a moment is all they get.

Okay, back to work. Have a great weekend!

Hanging With The Boy

I have been a little restless this week. Last night was no exception. I called Travis to see what he was doing and he wasn’t sure. I totally wanted to hang out with him, but I didn’t want to invite myself over, but he figured out where our conversation was going and was like “If you want to come over and hang out, just say so. Stop being such a girl.” Yeah. So I had just finished making dinner and he was talking about making Pasta Roni. No, I don’t think so. There’s no way I would let him eat that crap when I just made a fabulous dinner. I told him I would bring him some baked penne pasta (which I have been making once a week since I tried the recipe. Yummy.) So armed with some pasta (twice the portion that I would eat, he is a growing boy), I stopped by the liquor store for Jager and diet Rock Star and was off to his place.
