Good titles are overrated and I can’t think of one anyways
I totally had no intention to stay out until after 2am again, but somehow, it happened. I wanted to go to Gathering to catch the end of the MNF game to have a drink with Emily and then hit the sack to catch up on this weekend’s missed sleep. But that didn’t happen.
Nope. Kazandra and I dropped her sister off at the airport and then headed to Gathering. Emily made us fabulous martinis to start off the night. Then Kira called and came over. And then Boytoy. So then it was all about Lamp. And I told Kazandra that I wanted to be home at midnight, but midnight came and went and we were still there. We were having a really good time. Plus no one was there, so I sang a bunch. I’ve been trying to sing some different stuff, but I got in some of my regular songs as well. Let’s see if I can remember everything I sang - Toni Braxton “Breathe Again”, No Doubt “Spiderwebs”, Cher “If I Could Turn Back Time”, K.D. Lang “Constant Craving”, and because I was waxing nostalgic about my favorite ex, Queensryche “Silent Lucidity”.
And
Russ was a bit out of control. He was pouring them stiff. And he kept making Boytoy do shots with him. Boytoy was *way* plastered by the time we left. But I was good and only had one Mandrin Tonic and a very large red headed slut. I am trying to be more sober these days. I just know how it easy it is for me to have a few cocktails and then how it escalates from there. And escalation usually means late night booty call or even worse, the infamous drunk dial. And there's nothing worse than waking up in the morning with the phone in your hand and the moment of wondering who you talked to before checking your outgoing calls.
So, I am tired. And I look tired. I had to get up even earlier today because I had to pick my mom up from work at 5.30. And I can't even sleep tonight because I am going to the Pixies show. I am excited about that, but I'll definitely need some caffiene later.
And now I am going to stumble through the day. Wish me luck.

Great weekend, bad morning
I had a great weekend, only to be greeted by some seriously bad feng shui at my new desk. Damn it. Plus, I didn’t get home until 2am this morning and had to get up at 6am to get to work. Oh yeah.
But here’s weekend recap:
Friday - Kazandra in town, we went to Blue Lotus Lounge for a mellow night. Had the Tears of the Prophet cocktail - pomegranate juice and Absolut mandrin. We just gabbed on forever and went home relatively early.
Saturday - Greg in town, met him for coffee. Went shopping with my mom and bought fabulous shoes. Then to Kazandra’s parents for a BBQ, where I proceeded to get everyone drunk with my mad bartender skills. (Margaritas on the rocks, oh yeah.)
Sunday - got a really good 3.5 mile walk in, hung out with Kazandra, and then the FM 94/9’s show - Secret Machines, Death Cab for Cutie, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Joe and I went to Gordon Biersch before the show to have a beer.
Then on to the show. Everybody and their mother from the station was there. We ran into BSC Heather first and then Jeremy. So we all hung out for a bit during Secret Machines. Then I went down to my seat for Death Cab. Good seat in the middle section on the left side of the stage. They had a good set, but I wanted to hear "Tiny Vessels". Sigh.
Muse was incredible. They sounded great. They were definitely the highlight of the show. Franz Ferdinand was also incredible. They ended their set with "Darts of Pleasure", which is my fave song from them. The Yeah Yeah yeahs were a disappointment. That's all I'll say about that.
After the show, I went to both after parties. Started at Big Sonic Chill and got to catch up with Tony from promotions. Also spoke to Ryan briefly before heading to the Casbah.
Everyone from the station was at the Casbah. So that was all about Jager shots, cigars, and general debauchery. I had a really good convo with Garett. And I got to spend more time with Jeremy, which was also very cool.
I think that's about it for now. I just found out I can move to a bigger cubicle, so I am going to see about that now.

Animal Kingdom
I haven’t posted a quiz in a long time. But this is Kira’s fault, I didn’t do it first.
What is your animal personality? brought to you by Quizilla
The Crow-
Intelligent and very open minded. You love to talk and you are very persuasive, you always seem to know how to get what you want. Curious as well, be careful not to poke your beak into places it doesn't belong. You love to travel, too. People find it hard to keep track of you.
That's cool.

Weekend Preview
Still really busy here at work. Only two more hours and I can kiss this place goodbye!
Regular Friday WW check in - down 2.2 lbs. That’s a total of 62.4 since I started. Pretty cool.
This weekend will be busy. Kazandra and Russian Drew are here this weekend. I think tonight I am headed to the Blue Lotus Lounge with Kazan. Then tomorrow, Kazan’s family is having a party. Day thing by the pool. And I have a really cute eyelet top I can wear. And then Drew wants to catch the De La Hoya fight somewhere and get some dinner. Then the Velvet Tongue show at Buster Daly’s. Sunday is football in the morning and then the 94/9 show and the after party. Which means I get to see good bands and will get to hang with some cool people.
Speaking of FM 94/9, I got free tickets to “Rent” from promotions at the RAOK yesterday. I took a look at where the tickets are and they are in the dress circle. Really good tickets. How awesome is that?
And I sucked it up and bought tix to the PJ Harvey show at Soma. I hate that place, but I am not missing out on PJ again. It would be a crime.
Ok, that’s it. Now that the blogrolls are back, I need to catch up on the blogosphere. Have a great weekend!

Thoughts on a Thursday
I know, it’s been slow around here. But there’s reasons for that. I have been super busy at work because are moving offices this week. I have worked for the same company for seven and a half years and for seven of these years, we’ve occupied three floors of the big brick building you see when driving on the 163 onto the 8. Actually if you take the exit to 8 east from south 163 during business hours, I can see you drive by. My window faces the freeway. Over the last seven years, I have seen a bunch of car wrecks and other fun freeway activity. And I loved working in Mission Valley because it’s close to everything. But our new office is sweet. Our company bought 2 buildings in Kearny Mesa on Balboa Avenue. Which makes my commute really easy. Two miles away from Tierrasanta. It’s only 6 stoplights away. So that’s cool.
But try cleaning up seven years of your work life. Argh. I threw so much stuff away. Scary how much of a pack rat I am. But I fit all of my work life into 4 boxes. Now I just have to take 3 boxes of stuff home. Mostly holiday decorations. Our office really gets into the holidays. I am sure we’ll start decorating for Halloween on October 1st. Hopefully, I’ll be unpacked by then.
In other news…
I went to Lamp with Boytoy last night. Needed to get out and be social. I guess I wasn't my talkative self last night. But eventually whatever stick was up my ass eased out and it was all good. More of the Boytoy and
Russ bonding. Russ made Boytoy drink Yukon Jack shots with him. Ouch is all I can say to that. I got to sing a couple of songs - Alanis Morrisette's "Head Over Feet" and Olivia Newton-John's "Magic". Those were fun to sing. I haven't sang either one of those songs in a long time. And it was funny to point out that "Magic" was released before Boytoy was even born. Ha. I was hoping more people would show up because I need to finish this damn roll of film. But I did get a picture of Fake Canadian Matt and his roomie, Will. I need to start working on a new collage. I have enough pictures from this year's nightlife there to get started.
Oh, and speaking of fake Canadians, I just had to laugh when I opened my email from House of Blues Concerts today. It was my pre-sale notification for Avril Lavigne's show. Oh yeah, I'm all over that. Not.

Here I come to save the day!
Because I have nothing better to do and I saw this at Whitter’s, here’s a meme.
You’re a Coast Guard helicopter pilot who has rushed to the aid of a capsized boat with ten people aboard. You can use the aerial harness to pull them up one by one. The boat is sinking fast, though, and you know you won’t get to all of them in time. In which order do you pull them to safety?
1. President of the United States (just a president, not a specific one)
2. Kindergarten teacher with twenty years experience.
3. Young mother of three.
4. Grandfather of ten.
5. Police officer.
6. Eight-year-old child.
7. Rhodes Scholar.
8. Pregnant woman.
9. Doctor working on a cure for his own terminal cancer.
10. Your best friend.
So, in which order (ex. 7, 4, 10) would you pull them out? Why did you choose that order?
10. Your best friend - I have had to live without him in my life and I know that my life is infinitely better with him in it. So he's definitely first.
3. Young mother of three - I can't imagine not having my mom, so a mom with three kidlets? Definitely a priority.
8. Pregnant woman - you're saving two lives here.
6. Eight-year-old child - because I believe the children are our future.
2. Kindergarten teacher with twenty years experience - soft spot for the educators since I almost was one. Plus, it takes a special person to deal with the kindergarteners.
4. Grandfather of ten - makes the list but a lower priority because if you're a grandfather of ten, I am assuming you've had a full life.
9. Doctor working on a cure for his own terminal cancer - he's gonna die anyways, why make an effort?
1. President of the United States (just a president, not a specific one) - what? the secret service didn't save him/her? I'm not saving his/her ass. Especially if I didn't vote for him/her.
7. Rhodes Scholar - eh. Aren't there new scholars every year?
5. Police officer - still not over the amount of bad cops out there. But I would move this one higher if he was super hot - maybe just to get some later.
You guys can figure out the psychology behind those choices. Have a great day!

3 days of stuff
Busy weekend. Friday, I went to Kira’s and we had my famous Guiltless Fried Rice. Yummy. Her place is so cute. But I was tired from Thursday’s excesses, so it was an early night. I didn’t even talk to Travis all night. Then on Saturday, I had a meeting and then lunch with the managers in my department. That was alright. Typical Saturday errands and then it was off to the Gathering. Emily is back, so my sister and her boyfriend met me there for dinner and drinks.
Sunday was busy. First week of football. Oh yeah! I met Z and Rhiannon at CJ’s to watch the last bit of the morning games. It was packed in there because Second Wind’s satellite was down. Ali and her man were there, too. CJ’s is going to be the place for Sunday football. A pint of hefeweizen for $2.75? Oh yeah. Ali bailed after her Browns won but Z, Rhiannon, and I stayed until halftime of the afternoon games. Then home for a nap.
Sunday night, I went to Gathering and was planning on going to the Keane show at the Brick by Brick. Well, I got to BxB and it was sold out. Oh well. So I went to Sidebar and hung with the BSC'ers (DJ Drew, Heather, Maria, Matt, and Ryan) and then left to hang at Lamp with Boytoy. Lamp was dead so I sang a bunch. Yipee.
Oh yeah...I just checked how I did in the football pool and fantasy for the week. I went 10-4 for the week and kicked ass at Fantasy - 100 points. I can't wait to hear what Romey has to say about the first week of football.
