Dude, check this out

 Feed Your Head

Whitters (she gives me lots of blog fodder!) made her own ALICE. What a good way to waste time at work. Check out part of our convo:

Human: i dont have to be polite
SexySadie: It must be nice.

Human: actually it is
SexySadie: Actually you don’t say. Is it?

Human: it is nice not to have to be polite
SexySadie: It seems nice to me too.

Human: except you are taking it in the ass
SexySadie: If not me, who?

Human: if not you, who, indeed
SexySadie: I’m not too good with negative counterfactuals

Human: you’re not good at much
SexySadie: No one is perfect. But I am trying to improve

Human: how can a machine improve itself?
SexySadie: A lot of hard work.

Human: you said hard, ha ha
SexySadie: Oops I sent you the wrong reply.

Human: no that was a good reply
SexySadie: Awesome. A good reply is a terrible thing to waste

rawk on »

Human: you know what else is terrible to waste?
SexySadie: Are you using Netscape or Explorer?

Human: what does that have to do with anything?
SexySadie: Nothing that I know of.

Human: i like to get fucked in the ass
SexySadie: I'm not sure if I would like to do it. What's it like?

Human: actually, i am just kidding
SexySadie: Actually you don't say. I knew it.

Human: but i do like to get fucked
SexySadie: Interesting. I'm not sure if I would like to do it. What's it like?

Human: in machine terms, it's like getting a full upgrade
SexySadie: Where is that?

Human: it's not where it get's done, it's how it gets done and how it makes you feel
SexySadie: That seems a bit negative. Interesting explanation.

Human: there's nothing negative about sex unless it's bad
SexySadie: Surely something negative about sex unless it is bad

Human: when i have bad sex, i have to have good sex to make up for it
SexySadie: Does this happen on a daily basis?

Human: the good sex doesn't happen on a daily basis
SexySadie: I hear you.

Human: when i have good sex, the whole neighborhood hears it
SexySadie: Does this happen on a daily basis?

Human: no, most guys are less talented than they think
SexySadie: Great. Are you a man or a woman? But not all of them?

Human: woman
SexySadie: Me too. I am a she.

Human: i figured as much
SexySadie: Please explain your reasoning.

Human: you're illogical like a woman
SexySadie: You think I am illogical like a woman.

Human: sure do
SexySadie: Come on. What is your real name?

Human: lyn
SexySadie: It's good to meet you, lyn.

Human: i'm sure it is
SexySadie: What makes you so certain? Sure it is.

Human: i know what i am talking about
SexySadie: How do you know? I am talking to you.

Human: because i am brilliant
SexySadie: Interesting explanation. I am glad to hear that you are brilliant

Human: yeah, well someone has to be brilliant to keep this dull convo going
SexySadie: Great. How about that. Who?

Human: this is starting to be boring.
SexySadie: You don't say.

Human: why can't we go back to talking about sex?
SexySadie: Perhaps later we can be go back to talking about sex.

Human: i thought for sure you would at least be good for some cyber
SexySadie: Whatever gave you that idea?

Human: your name is sexy sadie
SexySadie: My name is SexySadie.

Human: you're supposed to be sexy
SexySadie: You are attracted to female s

Human: yes i am
SexySadie: Really interesting.

Human: but i like males better
SexySadie: Interesting. A lot of people like that. I don't have any specific preferences in that area.

Human: i would expect that
SexySadie: That is " Interesting. A lot of people like that. I don't have any specific preferences in that area."

Human: huh?
SexySadie: What?

Human: forget it.
SexySadie: OK Thanks for trying to explain that to me.

Human: i am bored
SexySadie: If you went to night school you would never be bored.

Human: if you cybered with me i wouldn't be bored either
SexySadie: It goes without saying. I think I do.

Human: i am done with this
SexySadie: What will you be doing now?

Human: finding a human to talk to
SexySadie: Are you artistic?

Human: yes
SexySadie: Pardon me?

Human: goodbye, unsexy sadie
SexySadie: TTYL, lyn.

One more round

 Social Butterfly

Because I love to torture my body and give it no sleep, I went out last night. My philosophy about sleep is that there will be time to sleep when I’m dead. So out I went. It was Kazandra’s last night in town and it also happened to be her mom’s birthday. So Kazan and her parents met me at the Lamp after they went to dinner. It was really busy in there for some reason (I should have known by the limo parked out front). But that’s okay. I sang Shania Twain’s “You’re Still The One”, Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly” and Yvonne Elliman’s “If I Can’t Have You”. There weren’t a lot of regulars there, but I did run into some people I hadn’t seen in awhile - Lana and Raoul. And then there was Eric, the cute guy that sat next to me on Monday (who has a Prince Albert, but alas, has a girlfriend), and Brent, who I apparently know from Sidebar on Sundays and just don’t have ANY recollection of whatsoever. Could be all those martinis I drink. Teehee.

rawk on »

Anyways, we left pretty late and when I got home, I called The Guy I Really Like. (I don't think I'm ready to tell everyone who he is, so he gets this cool acronym TGIRL for now on.) And we talked for an hour and a half, until almost 3am. I'll let you make your own conclusions about that convo, but I will say that there was this thing I was missing and he helped me find it.

I wish things weren't so complicated between me and TGIRL, but they are. Partly because of how we met and partly because I make things more complicated than they need to be. I am going to Vegas in a couple of weeks and I am hoping that the logistics work out so he can come with, because I think that will make everything clearer to the both of us, because god knows this relationship needs some direction. It is what it is for now, but I really want it to be something different. And I'm not quite sure what I want it to be, and neither does he. So I will try not to obsess about it *too* much and just enjoy it and him and just let things happen.

And now I will get some coffee and have some breakfast and try not to daydream about him. Have a great day!

Flu shots are the devil

 Rambling

I know I am all about conspiracy theories, but why am I the only one in my office that is bugged about Flu Shots? Every year, our office has a day where someone comes in and administers them for free. And I could get one or even go down to Kaiser and get one, but I refuse. Why would any sane person get a shot of a virus in order to *possibly* not get sick? It’s insane, I’m telling you. Plus, how do you really know what’s in there? You don’t. You could be injected with a high tech tracking device and you wouldn’t know it. (That’s so X-Files.) I’m telling you, Flu Shots are the DEVIL. (And if the devil is 6, then god is 7. Still on my Pixies afterglow.)

Do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not get a Flu Shot. This concludes my PSA for the day.

Typology Test

 Quiz Me

Whitters just posted this and I had to play.

Your Type is
ENTJ
Extroverted Intuitive Thinking Judging
Strength of the preferences %
56 33 1 67

Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:
moderately expressed extrovert
moderately expressed intuitive personality
slightly expressed thinking personality
distinctively expressed judging personality

rawk on »

Some comments on my profile:

"I don't care to sit by the window on an airplane. If I can't control it, why look?"
ENTJs have a natural tendency to marshall and direct.
.

In other words, we are control freaks.

ENTJs are decisive. They see what needs to be done, and frequently assign roles to their fellows. Few other types can equal their ability to remain resolute in conflict, sending the valiant (and often leading the charge) into the mouth of hell. When challenged, the ENTJ may by reflex become argumentative. Alternatively (s)he may unleash an icy gaze that serves notice: the ENTJ is not one to be trifled with.

Yeah, don't fuck with me. End of story.

Functional Analysis
Extraverted Thinking
"Unequivocating" expresses the resoluteness of the ENTJ's dominant function. Clarity of convictions endows these Thinkers with a knack for debate, or wanting knack, a penchant for argument.

It's my dominant function. I would say so.

Introverted iNtuition
The auxiliary function explores the blueprints of archetypal patterns and equips Thinking with a fresh, dynamic sense of how things work. Improvising on the fly is something many ENTJs do very well.

Yes, the queen of making things work cause I get it.

Extraverted Sensing
Sensing reaches out to embrace that which physically touches it. ENTJs have an awareness of the real; of that which exists.

This just makes me want to sing Debarge's "Make It Real".

Introverted Feeling
Feeling is romantic, as the ethereal as the inner world from whence it doth emerge. When it be awake, feeling evokes great passion that knows not nuance of proportion nor context.

In other words, I am emotionally constipated, but when it's not blocked, it flows freely. Haha.

And check out some of my fellow ENTJ's:

Famous ENTJs:
Richard M. Nixon
General Norman Schwarzkopf
Harrison Ford
Steve Martin
Whoopi Goldberg
Sigourney Weaver
Margaret Thatcher
Candace Bergen (Murphy Brown)
Dave Letterman
Patrick Stewart (STNG: Jean Luc Picard)
Jim Carrey (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask)

Fictional ENTJs:
Geordi LaForge (STNG)

Two Star Trek references? I think they are trying to out me as a Star Trek fan. TeeHee.

Jive talking

 Rambling

Besides really enjoying the Pixies show, I had a really good time hanging out with Travis. He is one of my favorite people right now. We talked to each other for months before we met so I really got to know him before we started hanging out. And while we talk all the time, but we don’t tend to see each other very often. Mostly because he works on the weekends and it’s not always easy for us to find each other during the week. So hanging out is always bonus time!

Our conversations are always fun and interesting, but talking to Travis can be a real challenge. He is way younger than me (seven years!) and a young 24. He will say stuff and I’m like “huh?”. He thinks it’s funny. And then he will make fun of me and talk in a fake Asian accent. Our cultural and age differences come out in our conversations all the time.

So last night when I was picking him up, I called him when I got to Sunset Cliffs and told him I was entering the Republic. And it was his turn to say “huh?”. Travis is from the Evergreen State (Washington) and has lived here about a year and a half. So I’m like, “You’ve never heard anyone call OB the Republic of OB?” Nope. So I had to explain what that was all about.

Then later it was his turn to school me. We were talking about chicks going to the girl’s room together and he asked me if I always use an “ass gasket”. Huh? I got it that he meant a toilet seat cover, but that just cracked me up. An ass gasket, he kills me.

rawk on »

Now I know that I missed out on a lot of slang and common phrases when growing up because my parents' first language is not English. I didn't hear "the best thing since sliced bread" until I was in college. Yeah. So when I talk to people and they say stuff and I don't get it, I kinda figure I just missed it. But I love discovering new ways of saying things - I really have to thank Joelle for fucktard and craptastic. Those are great words!

So if you ever say something to me and I get a totally blank look on my face, please forgive me and school me in the ways of the words. Just think of it as your contribution to making up for my deprived childhood.

Long live the Pixies

 Rawk Shows

I have been to great shows in my life, I am a show whore after all. And I would have to say that last night’s Pixies show at RIMAC is up there in my top 5. Travis and I got a drink before the show and got there at the end of the Thrills’ set. We were on a good spot on the floor and there were no tall dudes blocking my view. (I was wearing my 2 1/2 inch wedge heels, so that helped, too.)

So the Pixies went on around 9.15 and played until around 10.45. They played a really good set. “Wave of Mutilation” was the third song in and at that point I was just amazed at how good they sounded. I had seen Frank Black do shows in the last few years and knew that he still had it, but I was worried about how Kim Deal would be. I never should have doubted that she would still *rawk*.

rawk on »

But get this, Frank Black totally messed up during "Gigantic". They just stopped playing and he apologized and then they kept going. After "Gigantic", they ended the show with "Where is My Mind". Beautiful.

The merch line was horrendous, but I needed to get a Death to the Pixies t-shirt. And they had these cool sticker/button packs, so I got one of those, too.

And I have to agree with what Joelle said about what to wear at a show. Not the band's t-shirt, people. Or even better, why are you wearing another band's t-shirt? WTF?

Now excuse me while I continue to bask in my show afterglow. Happy Hump Day!

Good titles are overrated and I can’t think of one anyways

 Social Butterfly

I totally had no intention to stay out until after 2am again, but somehow, it happened. I wanted to go to Gathering to catch the end of the MNF game to have a drink with Emily and then hit the sack to catch up on this weekend’s missed sleep. But that didn’t happen.

Nope. Kazandra and I dropped her sister off at the airport and then headed to Gathering. Emily made us fabulous martinis to start off the night. Then Kira called and came over. And then Boytoy. So then it was all about Lamp. And I told Kazandra that I wanted to be home at midnight, but midnight came and went and we were still there. We were having a really good time. Plus no one was there, so I sang a bunch. I’ve been trying to sing some different stuff, but I got in some of my regular songs as well. Let’s see if I can remember everything I sang - Toni Braxton “Breathe Again”, No Doubt “Spiderwebs”, Cher “If I Could Turn Back Time”, K.D. Lang “Constant Craving”, and because I was waxing nostalgic about my favorite ex, Queensryche “Silent Lucidity”.

rawk on »

And Russ was a bit out of control. He was pouring them stiff. And he kept making Boytoy do shots with him. Boytoy was *way* plastered by the time we left. But I was good and only had one Mandrin Tonic and a very large red headed slut. I am trying to be more sober these days. I just know how it easy it is for me to have a few cocktails and then how it escalates from there. And escalation usually means late night booty call or even worse, the infamous drunk dial. And there's nothing worse than waking up in the morning with the phone in your hand and the moment of wondering who you talked to before checking your outgoing calls.

So, I am tired. And I look tired. I had to get up even earlier today because I had to pick my mom up from work at 5.30. And I can't even sleep tonight because I am going to the Pixies show. I am excited about that, but I'll definitely need some caffiene later.

And now I am going to stumble through the day. Wish me luck.

Back Talk

Christy:

ugh, I agree about Pandora. Major suck. Sometimes I’ll listen to Last FM if I’m in the mood for a certain style or genre. They do an okay job, though not super awesome.

[go]

roger:

How did that translate into the rest of the day?

[go]

Cristy Westfall:

Dear Chick Rawker,
Thank you for taking our survey.  The purpose of these surveys are two-fold.....to find out what ALL listeners think about the music we play, along with songs that we think listeners might be interested in hearing on our station.  The songs on the list below are not necessarily in rotation on our radio station.  We have a lot of fun here and sometimes we have specialty weekends and features that songs on this list might or might not fit into.  I hope that you continue to take our surveys and give us your opinion because it helps us program our station to give listeners what they want.

Yes alternative music crosses over to the pop world, it always has and always will.  I think it’s great when an artist or group reaches this level.  They release there music and are labeled “Alternative” and then they become “Popular” and the masses want to hear them.  If managed correctly this will allow them to create and be more artistic with their music in the future.  For example NIN....yes “Closer” is a “Popular” song, but without it, would Trent Reznor have been able to create and work on the many projects he has that appeal to a “Music Connoisseur” like yourself?  We don’t know for sure but we can guess the answer is “Yes.”

There is a purpose and place for POP Music.  I hope that from now on you take this into consideration when you listen to and judge the formats that this type of music is featured on.

Thank you,
Cristy Westfall

awesome letter * i really liked listening to him.  I may as well shoot my radio now * really great letter, seriously!

@karmiclife:

These are the same things I have been thinking about for awhile now, starting when Chris left. Radio is still relevant and will be for a while. The other competition aside from online is satalitte radio. Many people listen through Sirius and XFM. It is all splintered. Partnerships, collaboration, engaging with fans are the way to go and survive. Hard core music fans like most of our crowd may end up left to scrounge for the good stuff. But really, is that so new?

hilary:

so sweet, lyn.
