Happy Anniversary KBZT!
Today is KBZT’s official 5 year anniversary. There are many reasons why I love and support this station, but mostly it has to do with the awesome people that work there. They love music and what they do and that translates into radio that doesn’t suck.
As far as the show last night....what a good time. The Band of DJs were so awesome. They did a Velvet Underground/Clash/Iggy Pop medley and just had a great time up there. (And they didn’t sound bad either.) But the best part of that was DJ Drew’s channeling of Iggy Pop during “I Wanna Be Your Dog”. He ripped off his leather vest and unbuttoned his shirt to much jaw dropping in the audience. He was just wild, just like you would expect Iggy Pop to be on stage.
I didn’t actually spend much time listening to the bands as I was socializing (read: drinking jager) for most of the night. But the crowd was way into Feist and not just for “1, 2, 3, 4”. She kinda reminded me of how Cat Power is on stage (but a gazillion times less neurotic). She commands the stage without really knowing it. And the Hives? Wow...they just had so much energy and had the crowd singing to the likes of “Walk Idiot Walk” and a bunch of new stuff from their album that is out on Tuesday. Very fuzzy at the point where they went on stage so sorry for the lack of song titles. Plus, I didn’t take notes all night....I really just was out to have a good time. Mission accomplished.
And I have no idea why I’m already up and writing this so I am going to try to get more z’s.
