Let the Mudslinging Commence
It was only a matter of time before someone from the XTRA camp was gonna break ranks and tell it like it is. Well, last week, Al Guerra “exited” the station and good old KL stirs the pot in this week’s Blurt with some quotes from Al Guerra and some comments by Phil Manning.
“"It’s a toxic environment at 91X right now,” says Guerra. “[Management] completely destroyed the brand 91X. The station I grew up with is no longer there.”
Also of note, Phil Manning pretty much confirmed the departure of Chris Cantore:
When asked, Manning did not deny looking into replacing Cantore with a nationally syndicated morning show.
My comments on this? Al Guerra and Chris Cantore are way better off not being on XTRA. Next year is going to make or break that station and it wouldn’t surprise anyone in the know if that thing completely implodes.
Update: Peep the comments section of the Blurt article for some other choice opinions. Lots of mudslinging going on, which of course was KL’s m.o. to begin with. But this punkboard post is even better and pretty much sums up all the insider info you need to know.
