Music Mondays - Chick Rawk Edition
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do a chick rawk edition of Music Mondays.
The Long Blondes - Lust in The Movies
The Long Blondes - Once and Never Again
The Long Blondes - Swallow Tattoo
(from the album “Someone to Drive You Home” )
I had been seeing this band pop up in some of the things I read here and there, but didn’t have a chance to check it out until I was in Dallas at Good Records. They had it up at a listening station and it didn’t take more than half a song to know that I was going to dig it. They’ve got a riot grrl vibe ala Bikini Kill going on. Plus Kate Jackson, their lead singer, is hawt.
Metric - Grow Up and Blow Away
Metric - Rock Me Now
Metric - Soft Rock Star
(from the album “Grow Up and Blow Away” )
This album was actually recorded between 1999 and 2001, prior to their first official album release. It never was officially released back then (though some of the material showed up on the Static Anonymity EP.)
The Noisettes - Scratch Your Name
The Noisettes - Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit)
The Noisettes - Mind The Gap
(from the album “What’s The Time Mr. Wolf?” )
I’m pretty excited about seeing them tomorrow at the Belly Up. Since this is part of KBZT’s “About The Music” series, tickets are only $6. You can’t beat that.
P.S. Bonus in the listen section....it’s way hip to do Radiohead covers these days.
