This week in new tunes
In stores 10/23:
Baby Shambles Shotter’s Nation
When did Pete Doherty spend enough time not getting all effed up to actually record this?
Coheed And Cambria No World For Tomorrow
I’m hoping to get to a full review of this later in the week. In the meantime, you can preview the entire album on their myspace.
David Gahan Hourglass
Depeche Mode’s frontman brings another solo album to the table. Listen to tracks on his myspace.
Holy F**k LP
Canada is the new Brooklyn as far as hotbeds of indie rock. They were interesting enough when I saw them open for Wolf Parade.
Ryan Adams Follow the Lights
This EP has a couple of songs that will be featured in a new ABC show called “October Road”. Plus there are songs recorded live in the studio, including a cover of “Down In A Hole” by Alice In Chains.
Seether Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces
Only mentioning this as their new material will be on a top 10 alt rock chart near you. If you must take a listen, check out a few tracks on their myspace.
Serj Tankian Elect The Dead
Get ready for some Serj overload. First, you can stream the album MTV’s The Leak. And if you want to watch the all the videos made for the record, there are screenings across the country on Monday (that’s tomorrow, kids.) In San Diego, it is being screened at 8 pm at the Ultrastar Theatres in Mission Valley. That actually kinda sounds cool.
Soft Gone Faded
Have some indie shoegazer rock from the original hotbed of all things indie - Brooklyn. Intrigued? Check out “Higher”.
Impacting on radio:
Bad Religion - New Dark Ages
The National - Apartment Story
Shiny Toy Guns - Rainy Monday
Stone Sour - Zzyzx Rd.
