New In Stores and on the Radio
In Stores 10/30:
Armor for Sleep Smile for Them
I haven’t really heard any of their stuff, but I think this can be safely classified with the screamo boys.
Avenged Sevenfold self-titled
You can listen now on MTV’s The Leak.
Bobaflex Tales From Dirt Town
This could get some play on active rock radio. I’ve got a review copy sitting in my mailbox, if I ever get through this stack of cds that need to be listened to, you may see more about these guys.
Luna Halo self-titled
This band from Nashville (signed by Rick Rubin) apparently got some nice pub from their CMJ show. Right on.
Puscifer V Is For Vagina
I love that their myspace is Censorship is a Cancer. You go, Maynard.
Saves The Day Under The Boards
You can listen to the entire album on their myspace. I’ve spun it a few times and I’m digging quite a few songs.
Say Anything In Defense of the Genre
Okay, this one actually came out last week and I forgot to mention. But I like Max Beemis and his crazy lyrics so it gets a shoutout.
The Color Fred Bend To Break
This is the new project from Fred Mascherino, who recently departed from Taking Back Sunday. That’s gonna hurt TBS if you ask me as Adam Lazarra really needs a songwriting foil. But I am excited to hear this and they’ll be on tour with Straylight Run, so I hope to be able to catch a show sooner than later.
Thursday Kill The House Lights - Live And Unreleased
Geoff Rickly has amazing stage presence which is the only reason why I stay interested in this band. If this captures the live intensity that seems to be missing from their recorded material, then it’s worth a listen.
Impacting on radio:
Black Light Burns - 4 Walls
Mark Ronson - Oh My God (f./Lily Allen)
Oasis - Lord Don’t Slow Me Down
Reel Big Fish - Slow Down
Sigur Ros - Hjomalind
Spill Canvas - All Over You
Steriogram - Just Like You
