Tunes for the week
No dilly-dallying, let’s get to it.
In stores 2/19:
American Music Club The Golden Age
For the Big Sonic Chill lovers.
Bell X1 Flock
I’m trying to remember where I read an article about them. Paste maybe? Anywho, definitely worth a spin based on their single “Rocky Took A Lover”. (If you missed it when I posted a few weeks back, grab the it in the listen section).
Grand Archives self-titled
Any card carrying member of Indie Blogger nation should check them out when they play Casbah on March 1st. Listen to tracks on their myspace.
The Epochs self-titled
More on them in a separate post.
Mike Doughty Golden Delicious
“27 Jennifers” has already broken the top 10 of the Triple A charts.
Mountain Goats Heretic Pride
Another Indie Blogger Nation fave. (Listen to the entire cd on Spinner.
Raveonettes Lust Lust Lust
These guys are worth a listen as they are always fun to see live. They’ll be at Casbah on Friday, February 29th (Leap Year!!!) Be Your Own Pet is opening for them, which should be a good time as well. (Also available on Spinner. )
Impacting on radio this week:
3 Doors Down - It’s Not My Time (I Won’t Go)
I’m sure I’ll hear enough of this next time I’m in Dallas while listening to KDGE.
Apocalyptica - I’m Not Jesus
Finnish prog metal. Perfect for active rock stations.
Gutter Twins - Idle Hands
Another Mark Lanegan project. This one rocks. They are touring (with Great Northern opening) but no SD date as of yet. Check them out on myspace.
Panic At The Disco - Nine In The Afternoon
They played this when I saw them at Street Scene last summer. I’m not embarassed to say that I dig it. Here’s the video:
(P.S. Also not embarassed that I bought a ticket to their show at SOMA. Come on - Motion City Soundtrack, Hush Sound and Phantom Planet are opening. A thoroughly solid show for the teen scenesters and me channelling my inner 16 year old girl. )
Seether - Rise Above This
Their current single is #1 on the alt rock charts. Too soon for a new one?
Story Of The Year - Wake Up
I had to listen to this one. I like a couple of their songs a lot, but their last album didn’t really stick. We’ll see how I warm up to this.
Warm In The Wake - She’d Never Seen It
This would totally be great for Triple A radio, but I can see this on alt rock radio as well. Maybe stations like Indie and KNRK will pick it up. You should definitely check this band out. (You can listen to their album American Prehistoric here. )
