This Week In Tunes
I’m on a plane to Dallas as you read this. Heading to Austin on Thursday. I hope to be able to actually write some music posts this week, but we’ll see. Dallas will be crazy with everyone blowing through town before they head to Austin. I’m going to try to get all my SXSW plans together while I am in Dallas. (You know, in between work and going to Good Records for in-stores and Yelp meetups and what not.)
In the meantime, check out what’s new for this week.
In stores 3/11:
Greg Laswell How The Day Sounds (EP)
His follow up to the well-received “Through Toledo”.
Jaymay Autumn Fallin’
“Girl with a guitar” based out of NY is all the rage in the UK. Grab “Blue Skies” here.
Midnight Movies Nights (EP)
On this 6-song EP, the quartet revisits two LP tracks, re-mixed and dance-floor ready, and adds live favorites. Both Nick Zinner (YYY) and James Iha (do I have to tell you?) remixed a track. Grab “Should Have Known” here.
Presidents Of The United States Of America These Are Good Times People
I didn’t know these guys were still making new music until I found about about Marco working with them through Fuzed. I’m sure I’ll have more info about this record sooner than later.
Saving Abel self-titled
This is the band’s major label debut. Their single “Addicted” has been getting play on both active and alt rock stations. They are currently on tour with Sick Puppies and will be playing at Cane’s on 4/11.
Impacting on radio:
Alter Bridge - Watch Over You
Will do well on the active rock stations.
Biffy Clyro - Saturday Superhouse
They haven’t quite caught on yet, have they?
Chiodos - Lexington
Warped Tour faves on the radio? Maybe.
Kooks - Always Where I Need To Be
This new single is cute. Check out the video:
My American Heart - The Shake (Awful Feeling)
Not sure why the push now, but okay. XTRA should be all over this.
P.O.D. - Addicted
Maybe KIOZ will play this?
Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - Gardenia
I hope Indie or KBZT picks this up.
