This Week in New Tunes
Much better than last week…
In stores 3/4:
Bauhaus Go Away White
I had to look up whether or not this was new stuff and it is. Really? I have to say that finally seeing them when they opened up for NIN was a revelation. I loved all of the post-Bauhaus projects, so this actually is very intriguing. You can listen to a couple of the new tracks on their myspace.
The Black Crowes Warpaint
So you think all the pub they got over the “fake” review of this on Maxim will sell some records? Last I heard, the actual writer set everyone straight by saying that he wrote it as a preview, but Maxim printed as a real review. I know they have someone trolling the net about them in any case. When I wrote that I wasn’t that excited about the single a few weeks ago, I got an email spouting off about why people care. We’ll see when we get the soundscan results.
Flogging Molly Float
I think their schtick gets old, but they have some really good songs.
The Gutter Twins Saturnalia
I’m super annoyed that they do not have a SD tour date.
Murder By Death Red Of Tooth And Claw
My pick of the week. They’ll be in town next week at HOB - bummer that I am missing them.
Stephen Malkmus & Jicks Real Emotional Trash
You can listen to the entire album on Spinner.
What Made Milwaukee Famous What Doesn’t Kill Us
Indie blogger nation pick of the week.
Impacting on radio this week:
Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife
Their last single did well on both the active and alt rock charts.
The Black Keys - Strange Times
For your listening pleasure....
Flogging Molly - Requiem For A Dying Song
New album, new single. Already on rotation at KBZT.
Lyrics Born - I Like It, I Love It
I like the idea of this on alt rock radio, but I don’t know if it’s really gonna fly.
P.S. There were some good covers floating around the interweb this week. Check Oscar winner Glen Hansard covering none other than JT. Awesome.
Glen Hansard - Cry Me River
