This Week’s New Music
In Stores 7/24:
Evans Blue The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal Of Life Ends
This is one of those sounds-like-everyone-else-that-is-crappy-on-your-friendly-neighborhood-crappy-CC-altrock-station. So I am sure that means a single will be bouncing up the charts any day now.
Garbage Absolute Garbage
This is Garbage’s best of with a couple new tracks.
The LovemakersMisery Loves Company (ep)
This band from SF is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. At the Casbah on 8/8. I’ll be there.
Puddle Of Mudd Famous
I am still wondering why anyone still cares about this band.
Robbers On High Street Grand Animals
I saw this band open for Ivy a couple of years ago and I liked them so much I bought their cd. They are playing at the Troubadour in L.A. on Aug 7th with the 1990’s (they are a World’s Fair band so you should be hip to them). You can listen to the single “Crown Victoria” here.
Silverchair Young Modern
This has been out in their native Australia for awhile. The single “Straight Lines” is burning up the alt rock charts.
Sum 41 Underclass Hero
Um, I don’t have much to say about this one.
Tegan and Sara The Con
I love me some Tegan and Sara. There are a bunch of tracks floating around since the album was leaked over Memorial Day weekend. Or you can listen to the whole album on their myspace. And get your tickets for their show at Spreckels on Oct. 30. I’ll be in the orchestra pit singing along. (They are also featured in the latest issue of Filter - a good read for sure.)
Impacting on radio:
Atreyu - Becoming The Bull
This is one of those screamo bands. Maybe on an active rock station?
Blaqk Audio - Stiff Kittens
This has already broken the national charts.
Papa Roach - Time Is Running Out
Hmmm....does this mean I get less of “Forever”? Please?
Sum 41 - Walking Disaster
A disaster is probably a good description.
P.S. Yes, that is a bonus in the listen section.
