Release spotlight: The Epochs
Currently digging on the self-titled release of the Brooklyn band The Epochs. Okay, I admit I was attracted by the shiny happy packaging. Enough so that I opened it in the car and started listening there. From the opening notes of “Thunder and Lightning”, I knew I was onto something. It appealed to my dancy pants loving self for sure. “Opposite Sides” has some cool vocals going on - a little of that falsetto that I totally dig on. But just when you think you know where they are going on the album, you get something completely different like “Mister Fog”. This one is slower and meanders but it’s still interesting both lyrically and musically. I could go on an on because I really like this. It’s got a little something for all my music personalities. So have some electronic-soul-pop with good lyrics and great packaging and call it a day.
