Show Preview: Dappled Cities and Tokyo Police Club
Thursday night at the Beauty Bar is going to be a blast. The headliner is Tokyo Police Club (now on Saddle Creek), a great band from Canada who wowed me at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas prior to their well-received performances at this year’s SXSW. And if that wasn’t enough to get you out, Dappled Cities is opening.
A little about Dappled Cities. They’re from Australia and are touring in support of their recently released album, “Granddance”. Right away they got a pass since their label is Dangerbird, which has yet to let me down. I noticed them as a Hot Pick a while back, so I hyped ‘em and found “Fire, Fire, Fire”. Talk about catchy...I can sing that chorus for days. The rest of the album is a good listen. Ah, check it for yourselves…
Dappled Cities - Fire, Fire, Fire
Dappled Cities - Beach Song
Dappled Cities - Vision Bell
Oh and have some Tokyo Police Club while I am at it:
Tokyo Police Club - Cheer It On
Tokyo Police Club - Citizens of Tomorrow
Tokyo Police Club - Be Good
