The Boss in S.D.
If you’ve been listening to KBZT lately, you know they added Bruce Springsteen’s new single “Radio Nowhere” to their rotation. (Apparently, the first radio station in the country to add it. I’m kinda meh about the song itself, but it fits in with what they do over there. Right along with Johnny Cash and Garett’s Friday blues thing.) The guys at KBZT are bummed that tour dates were announced but no SD dates. (Not surprising, we get overlooked all the time. No one wants to play the shitty sports arena and Coors in the fall is not great either.) So they’re starting a petition to have him come play here as there is a spot in the tour where SD can be squeezed in. Sign the petition here. (I am really cynical about how this would even make a difference, but I’ll bite because I am all about the love for the guys at KBZT.)

For Immediate Release
SAN DIEGO) – Twenty-six years after Bruce Springsteen and the E. Street Band last played San Diego, KBZT-FM (FM 94/9) is asking fans to sign a petition to persuade them to return to the city during the tour for the new album, Magic.
“Bruce currently has dates announced on October 28th in Los Angeles and November 2nd in St. Paul, Minnesota,” pointed out KBZT Program Director Garett Michaels. “We’re hoping there’s a window in which he can squeeze in a San Diego show and we want fans to encourage him by signing the petition.”
The petition can be signed online at
http://www.fm949sd.com or at KBZT station events until September 30th. It will be sent to Springsteen’s manager, Jon Landau, in hopes of adding a tour stop in San Diego.
FM 94/9 was the first rock station to officially add Radio Nowhere, the first single from Magic. Listeners are giving it high marks as one of Springsteen’s best songs in years.
San Diego is also name-checked in one of his most famous songs, Rosalita (lyric: I know a pretty little place in Southern California down San Diego way, There’s a little café where they play guitars all night and day).
