Ting Tings at Casbah
Fab night at the Casbah. Tonight was the first night of the Ting Tings’ two week American tour. It was a sold out show filled with non-Casbah regulars. All good though as I was in the very front with a bunch of dancy pants people who were still respectful of the photos. So I took a ton. Photos first, then set list, then commentary.
I took this when Katie stood up on the amp in to the left of me.

Jules and Katie put on an energetic set even though Katie said they were fighting jet lag. She was super cute and talkative to an extent. They played all but two songs from their debut We Started Nothing. I think their intention was to play all of them but Katie scratched the title track and told Jules to play “Shut Up and Let Me Go” instead right around “Be the One”. The crowd (at least the part of the crowd I was in) danced their a$$es off from the get go, easy to do since they played “Great DJ” second. They slowed it down a bit with “Traffic Light” but the energy just built until “Shut Up and Let Me Go”. All bets were off then as Katie played the drum that she was standing in front of all night, then pushed it away and started playing the cowbell. Awesome. No encore because Katie said her voice was trashed (and they still have a set to play early tomorrow at Indy Jam). If you’re going tomorrow, go early and catch them if only to dance to “Great DJ”.
