Warped Tour 2007
I had a ton of stuff to do before I could head out to Warped this afternoon. Plus I had to wait for My Show Partner in Crime (MSPC for short) to get off work so we could bail. We didn’t get out there until around 3.30 and we missed one of the bands we really wanted to see - K-Os. Bummer. But here’s the blow by blow anyways....
3.30 - Sum 41 was playing on Main Stage Left. Nothing too interesting until Fishbone at 4.20. We walked around and what have you.
4.20 - Fishbone on Main Stage Right. Lots of people into them, especially when they covered Sublime’s “Date Rape”.
5.00 - Total Chaos on the Hurley Stage. Old school punk rock, anyone? I especially dug the chick bassist.
5.30 - Flogging Molly on Main Stage Left. We decide to get a drink and listen from there.
6.00 - Pepper on Main Stage Right. I suffered a little through their set until MSPC suggested we get a drink. Um, yeah.
6.45 - Just wasting time until Coheed. We catch a bit of My American Heart on the Ernie Ball Stage. Lots of tween girls as predicted.
7.00 - Bad Religion on Main Stage Left. They sounded great and played what you would expect. Pimped the new album when playing “Honest Goodbye” and ended their set with “Infected” then “Sorrow”. But my fave part of their set? When Greg Graffin said that the best band on the tour would be next. Totally correct.
7.30 - Coheed and Cambia on Main Stage Right. This is who we came out for and we got what we wanted. I swear Claudio’s hair gets bigger every time I see him. He can really hide behind it now. And he has this monster of a guitar. A good set of songs - they started off with “Welcome Home Clean” and then went for it with “Suffering” and their new song “The Running Free”. Then a couple of crowd faves/sing-a-longs ("Blood Red Summer” and “A Favor House Atlantic"). They ended with “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth”.
8.10 - Pennywise on Main Stage Left. We listen to a couple of songs before we bail. Still got to hear their entire set as we walked to the car. They killed the set ending “Bro Hymn”.
So that was it. Last year’s lineup had more that I wanted to see. But seeing Coheed was worth it.
