Dashboard Confessional at the Troubadour

lt’s a bit hard to believe that Dashboard Confessional’s Swiss Army Romance album is ten years old. But it is and Chris Carrabba is celebrating the anniversary of its release with a tour, playing the album in its entirety. I happen to be in L.A. this week so I caught tonight’s show at the Troubadour. Of course, it was full of emo awesome. Set list first….

So after three openers (maybe I’ll get to a post about them someday). Chris comes out solo and does not kid around. He goes straight into one of his best songs ever, “Screaming Infidelities”, which happens to be the first song on Swiss Army Romance. And so it was on. Everyone in the Troub seemed to know all the songs. It was a great place to be a Dashboard fan. After he finished Swiss Army Romance, he went straight into the encore. And I, like most everyone else there, sang through the majority of the set, and thoroughly enjoyed all the “hits”. Chris did treat us with his cover of Cory Branan’s “Tall Green Grass” (which he also did at the Anaheim show). Particularly poignant to me was “As Lovers Go” and “Remember to Breathe”. And of course, the always gut-wrenching set ender “Hands Down”.

An epic night for all the emo girls and boys. I get to do it again on Saturday in SD. Can’t wait.
